CBSE Class 12 Board Exams 2021 Cancelled (Final Decision) Here’s an Update: While the Parents association were demanding the cancellation of CBSE 12th Board Exams, CBSE has now come to the conclusion of cancelling the exams, as per today report on 1st June 2021. According to NDTV Education, CBSE has confirmed that Class 12 examinations will not be conducted this year. Earlier, The exams for 12th Board were postponed and CBSE was reviewing the situation of COVID-19 in an order to plan for the exams. Now, the board has made a big announcement to not conduct the 12th board exams.

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has earlier decided to hold the CBSE Class 12th Board exams on May 4. But due to COVID-19 rising cases in the country, it was informed by Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ that exams will not be conducted as per the schedule.

A huge number of candidates were waiting for the supreme court decision about CBSE 12th Board Exams 2021 whether it will be cancelled or not. SC had given a deadline to the government and enforced to decide which option to go with i.e. (i) To conduct exams for limited subjects (ii) Cancel the exams and prepare the result on the basis of past performance (iii) Conduct all exams with minimizing exam timings. Now, On June 1, the consensus has come to cancel the board exams for Class 12. Soon, the evaluation criteria will be declared.

On May 23, Government had suggested two options – Either to hold exams for important subjects only or to conduct all exams for a reduced time of 1.5 hours instead of 3 hours with a must change in the exam pattern to MCQ Type.  A few states like Delhi & Maharashtra, however, have appealed the third option which is being called a zero exam year in which all students must be assessed based on past performance i.e Internal Evaluation, Pre-Board etc.

On May 14, CBSE has already clarified that there is no decision has been taken on cancelling the Class 12 board exams. Although, some of the petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court regarding the cancellation. On the other hand, a huge number of students and their parents are requesting the cancellation. But CBSE has suggested everyone stay away from rumours until there is no official announcement made about the same.

How the Marks will be given if the CBSE exams are cancelled?

CBSE has officially announced that Class 10 Exams will not be conducted and the marks will be awarded on the basis of Objective Methodology. Similarly, if the board exams for Class 12 are not conducted, CBSE may choose to prepare the results as per the objective criteria wherein students will be given marks based on their performance in Internal Assessment, Project Work and pre-boards.
